Silverfish - How to Get Rid of This tasteless Household Pest

Tired of those slimy, disgusting bugs known as Silverfish in your apartment or house? Would you like to learn how to get rid of silverfish without using chemicals or harsh pesticides that can potentially harm your pets and children? In order to rid your place of an infestation, you have to understand the living and breeding patterns of these creepy puny arthropods.

Like cockroaches, silverfish have an exoskeleton, a tough outer shell that holds all their parts together and protects them from attack. They like to live in tight, warm places, preferably with lot of moisture. Places like the bathroom and laundry room are favorites of silverfish.

When you see one silverfish, you are actually only looking the tip of the iceberg. One silverfish means that there are many more silverfish that you don't see: living in your walls, in cracks of caulking in bathtubs, in in the middle of the pages of your books. Yes, silverfish love living in books! The tightness in the middle of the pages provides a great place to live and breed, and the glue that binds the pages together is (believe it or not) tasty to these quick, creepy insects. If you a box of old books in your leaky old basement, chances are it has come to be the new living quarters of a silverfish colony.

One of the best ways to kill off silverfish for good is to understand their living and breeding patterns. By taking the time to understand them, you are empowering yourself with knowledge that can be used to free your home from silverfish. Just squishing the ones that you come across in your bathroom or cutlery drawers may feel like you're doing something, but you're not. Remember, one silverfish means that there are many more that you don't see so even if you kill one, there are a dozen or so more babies ready to take its spot.

When mating, silverfish engage in a long courting ceremony that can last up to half an hour. The male and female silverfish touch antennae, then chase each other around. Finally, the male drops a spermatophore (an organic capsule that holds his genetic code) and the female take it into her body and fertilizes her eggs. When they hatch, young silverfish are small and white in colour, but otherwise look just adult silverfish, with the creepy triple antennae-like tail, and all their shifting exoskeletal plates.

Despite their creepy appearance and unlike cockroaches, silverfish do not gift any severe health concern to humans in our homes. They can, however, cause damage to things such as books, silk, linen, cotton and some artificial fibers and they prefer dark places, so the clothes hanging in your closet may be targeted. They have been known to eat soaps and shampoos, and of procedure would love to graze on crumbs that have been left on your kitchen counter.

6 tasteless Ac Problems and Costs

In the hot months you love your air conditioner, and if it breaks things can get a limited unbearable. It is also high-priced to mend your ac, so here is a list of tasteless problems to help you out a bit.

This is a short list of six tasteless Ac mend problems. I will state the issue, then suggest the dissimilar possibilities for fixing it, and almost how much it should cost.

Compressor Troubleshooting Guide

1. The first qoute is when the outside Ac unit doesn't turn on. If there is no power to the unit then maybe there is a defective breaker or wires got burned/broken/etc. These problems should cost about -150 to fix. Possibly the issue may also be a defective thermostat (0) or transformer (0).

2. qoute whole two is when the circuit breaker trips when turned on. There are four possibilities here. First there might be a weak breaker (0) or the condenser fan shorted to ground (0-0). A grounded compressor will put you back close to 00 so that is the worst possible outcome.

3. The unit hums but the fan doesn't work. This could be due to a defective fan motor (0) or defective capacitor (0). Burned wires could also lead to this qoute and will cost nearby to fix.

4. The fan works but the compressor does not. This could be because of burned wires again () or capacitor (0). You may also need to add more refrigerant (freon, etc) which can cost - per pound of refrigerant. Worst case scenario is when you need to replace the whole compressor which is nearby 00.

5. The outdoor unit runs but the fan won't work. A defective blower motor will cost nearby 0 to fix, a defective evaporator coil will cost nearby 0 to fix, and broken wires or filters cost - to fix. A defective capacitor will put you back about 0 and a new fan town will be nearby 0.

6. The Ac is leaking water inside of your house. This can be because the drain stopped, which will cost nearby 0 to fix. Or it could be because the unit froze up which is an easy fix. Hopefully the qoute is not because the evaporator coil pan rusted out because that will be nearby 00 to fix.

I know this is not a super-detailed guide on how to fix your Ac. But you can use it as a sort of troubleshooting guide to test out dissimilar problems when your Ac starts acting up.
